Can You Help Me?

When I started this blog years ago, I never knew that it would reach all over the world and help so many special people. Each and every one of them (including YOU) has been a blessing from God to encourage me to continue helping people that need healing from divorce.

And now, I would love your help!!

I believe that God is leading me to create a new YouVersion Bible App Reading Plan. I have been blown away by how many people have responded to the other two plans I created (as of today, over 137,000). I give God all of the glory and a huge thank you to YouVersion for allowing me to just be a small part of the healing process that He is doing in their lives. I am extremely humbled.

Soooooooo, what next?

I know that you may not be ready to share about your divorce situation, and I am totally fine with that. If you are not, you may skip the rest of this post. Feel free to check out any of the other posts I have on this blog. May they give you the help and direction you need during this time in your life. Check back soon because I will be creating another new blog post soon and would love to know what you think.

If you are at a point where I could ask you to suggest topics for my next Reading Plan, I would LOVE for you to help me out.

REQUEST: In as much detail as you feel willing to share; describe the first 7 days of your divorce and what helped you out the most in those 7 days? Can you narrow it down to a few different topics? Are there specific feelings of fear, regret, anger, etc.. that dominated that time? Looking back, if you had a Reading Plan offering assistance during that time, what 7 things would have given you the most help during those first 7 days?

I know this may not be something you feel comfortable to share, and I totally understand. I just wanted to give you an opportunity to share, if you feel like God has gotten you to a point where you are willing to help others with your experience.

Go ahead and leave your thoughts in the comments. If you would like to share, but would only like to share with me in private, go ahead and send me a personal email at and I will keep your comments between us.

Ask God what He would have you share. You may have an insight that could change the life for someone just like you, a person forever changed by the pain of divorce.

I want to say thank you in advance. I know this may be tough for some people. God has brought some of you to a place where you are ready to share your thoughts. He has given you a testimony in how He has helped you gain wisdom and peace through your healing process. Now is a great time to share your thoughts.

Thank you all for taking a few moments to give me a greater look into what it takes to handle the first 7 days of a divorce. I don’t take it lightly. I appreciate each and every one of you.

Be blessed!!

  1. Hi
I don’t know if I can pinpoint my feelings from the first seven days after my divorce. But I will do my best to give you some insight on my situation and feelings.

I remember the biggest issue I had was why did I lose so much and he got to keep it all. A really good friend of mine who happened to be a Christian counselor reminded me of Job. At that time I did not want to hear that. My ex was emotionally abusive and physically threatened me a number of times. There was always that fear that his fist would connect the next time. I always thought I was a strong person that God had blessed with a wonderful life despite all the bad things that happened to me. I had a great career (I retired shortly after meeting my ex), a wonderful little house, an amazing son ( who had already graduated and left home before I met my ex), and I had saved enough to be ok the rest of my life. Then I met this awesome guy who I wanted to share it all with. I put his name on everything because I thought that was the right thing to do. He was going to be the partner I wanted for the rest of my life. Well, I told you how that went. He got the home, most of the equity, and most of the “things”. After the last night of abuse, I left ( he threatened me and had me thrown out by the police. He was drunk and could not drive) He sold all our together things, threw much of my stuff out (not my clothes and very personal things), took most of the savings money and then proceeded to tell me how wicked and evil I was for leaving him, despite the fact that he threw me out the night of his last go at me. His texts and emails berated me with scripture and his version of Gods soon to be wrath on me.

Anyway, I now live in a tiny one bedroom duplex and he has our acreage, and all the “stuff” necessary to have a home.

Your blog helped me to see that God knows more than I do. He sees the future as I can not. I love Jesus and do my devotions every day. I still screw up but I know God will forgive me and He is ultimately in control!!

    Thank you so much!

    1. Hi, Jill.

Sorry for not answering you earlier. I spent a few weeks with my parents helping them through some health and home issues. I do apologize and pray that I can share something of value with you.

I appreciate the kind words about the blog. My goal is to just be a small part of the healing process that God wants to do in your life.

It is beyond me that people can act in ways that cause such damage to another person’s spiritual, mental, and physical well-being. I am well beyond trying to understand it. I leave that up to God. I ask Him to help me at least understand how I can help others through it all.

God knows the beginning from the end. He sees your actions. He knows your heart to love Him with all you have gone through and your desire to know Him in this time of transition.

Believe me, we all screw up and God knows it. That is why we are human and He is God. He understands. Know that He loves you no matter what happens. Consequences will follow our decisions, yet His love never changes…and never will!!

God has forgiven you. He is in control. My prayer for you is for His wisdom, peace, and joy to supply all you need today and every day moving forward. You are His child and wants He the best for you.

      Be blessed!!
